What is ShareWares anyways?
ShareWares is a borrowing platform of 'wares' shared by a network of businesses, people, and organizers. ShareWares are used and returned to be washed and reintegrated into the system.
Why Sharing?
Rather than extracting fresh materials to make products that live for minutes and then sit in an endless recycling line, ShareWares keeps each item in use.
Use, Return, Wash, and Reuse hundreds of times.
How?
Through our simple plug-and-play system. Venues, festivals, and organizers borrow our wares to provide them to their guests.
Where?
There are multiple Vancouver businesses providing ShareWares. Our wares circulate through a growing network of event venues, stadiums, and cafes city-wide.
1. YOU ENJOY & RETURN
Ask for ShareWares at your favourite local business (if they don't have it yet, maybe it's about time!). Borrow and return it to participating locations.
2. WE WASH & SANITIZE
Then, we pick up, wash, and sanitize each item to get it ready for it's next use.
3. REPEAT!
We redistribute the clean cups & plates to your favourite local businesses.... and repeat!
In “for-here” environments like theatres, festivals, arenas, restaurants, and amusement parks, ShareWares are used ONLY within the premises.
Guests use them on-site, drop them in return bins.
The ShareWares team picks up used items and takes them back to the washlab for sanitization and redistribution.

In "to-go" scenarios, like campuses, food courts, refilleries, and restaurant takeout, guests take ShareWares with them after paying a refundable deposit.
Once finished, they return ShareWares to participating drop-off locations. After that, the ShareWares team picks up used items and takes them back to the washlab for sanitization and redistribution.
How to return ShareWares to-go?

Scan your Ware
Open your phone camera and scan your ware, this will redirect you to ShareWares online app.

Scan the Bin
Enable camera access to be able to scan the bin through our online app.

Click 'Claim'
Open your phone camera and scan your ware, this will redirect you to ShareWares online app.

Enter you Phone#
We will send you a text to claim your money.

Place your Ware in the Bin
All set! Your refund will be available once your ware returns to our WashLab.

What happens in the WashLab?
We do the Washing!
We pick up the bins and containers weekly and take them to our Wash Lab to get them ready for redistribution.
We operate at a Vancouver Coastal Health-approved washing facility located in Olympic Village, Vancouver. Our facility has received a GMP high hygiene certification from NFS.
